I would check out Alan Tani's site for references on senators in general. From what I have heard, he is a reel wizard and gets the most drag out of reels while still maintaining freespool.

A 16/0 is a wide, relatively flimsy reel, putting maximum drag on these reels will more than likely lead to warping of the spool or frame or bending the reel brace. I was told by a friend the max drag you would ever want a 14/0 or 16/0 to see was 35lbs of drag, obviously you can install a drag that pushes it way farther up the line but your risking a reel not made for that. A proper installation of ht-100's or a similar drag set will give you smoothness and power but not enough to damage you in the long run.

Just an average fisherman.
