Drag Capabilities vs Line Strength

So I am trying to figure out how to gauge the appropriate line strength, compared to the drag capabilities of a reel. It seems a common setup with a TRX is 130 lb test line. Coming from a freshwater fishing back round, rarely using anything above 12lb test line, I think I remember a 1/3 rule. Set your drag to 1/3 your line strength. So 130 lb test line with a reel capable of over 100 lbs of drag, sounds like the line is the week point by a long shot. I understand the capabilities of the person standing behind the rod will differ, and hanging onto 100+lbs of drag is not very likely, but I am wanting info on the equipment, not that of the human.

Anybody able to shine a little logic onto this subject?

you are right you are supposed to set your drag to 1/3 the breaking strength of the line i.e 30lb line gets 10lbs of drag. you can go more then that but then you are risking breaking your line. every one i know that has a trx is using 200lb braid and as every one know braid for the most part breaks at a higher point then stated. 200lb will prolly break at close to 250 or so.

I have 200lb braid on my 12/0 but I intentionally went "overboard" when I had a lil money. I also have a bad habit of palming the spool or squeezing the spool edges with my thumbs  but I wouldnt trust myself doing all that with a lighter line. Although my largest fish is a massive Goliath on 60lb mono on my International 30TW.
