Hi Matt26:

I have used Dacron my entire fishing life....at least 50 plus years. I am personally tired of that stretch you get from mono. When you fight shark on mono all you feel is the rubbery stretch of the mono. Go to using Dacron and feel the shark. You can feel everything the shark does. A cautionary note here....if you use Dacron there is no stretch and you will get pulled off the beach or the jetty.

Best and tight lines,

Norman Bateman

I would go with power pro for sure if your gonna use that heavy of line. 130 dacron is probably close to 80lb mono in diameter. You can get twice the line capacity with the power pro.

Your small reel needs PP. Braid(pp) has alot of bad charistics. it drifts bad and it doesnot sink well cause of the wax. it is thin and breaks with a small frey. If ya had a real shark reel i would say to use the dacron on top with a PP backing. With the bottom reel you have you may want to stick with PP.

Remember, a 9/0 only has so much drag...
