Hey guys I have a penn 16/0 and want to spool it with 130 dacron braid how much yards would you think can fit and should I go full dacron or put a mono top shot?
I fit 1200 yards on a black spool 14/0. So probably another 200-400 yards.
Ok great and u run plain dacron or u put a top shot?
If You Are Using Dacron Why Use Mono?
Idk I just heard of a few people doing that but I have no experience with dacron.
About 1600 yards of 130 dacron can be fit on a 16/0.....go with 200lbs dacron....you can get about 1000 yards of it if u wet pack it.....I got about 800 yards of 200lbs on my 14

Id agree with that. I only add mono to dacron when I hook a boat and lose a bunch 
. Its pretty abrasion resistant so Ive never NEEDED a mono topshot around here. But once I get more dacron I ditch the mono and just tie in the replacement dacron. But thats on my "dacron reel" others are spooled differently due to different uses, locations, conditions, mood etc.

I always fill a 5gal half full of fresh water and throw the whole spool of dacron in it and let it soak a lil while. Softens up a bit and flattens some. Then when you spool it up pack it nice and tight. You'll fit a lil more than you would dry.
