Customizing a Senator

I feel like I ask too many questions on this forum  , but heres a new unique one. I am thinking about ways to customize a senator, and thought you may be able to do something cool on the left sideplate. I thought it would be pretty badass to sand the leaping broadbill scene off of it, and then etch in an inlay of Jack Rackham's flag design with the Skull and crossed-cutlasses  , and then use a permanent white paint or some kid of lasting stain to fill it in. What do you guys think? Would there be a way to remove the factory etching without ruining the plastic? I think this could turn out pretty neat and set it apart from all the other senators out there.

No one really had any experience with it. Once I finally get a 14/0 and rod and line, I'll see about getting a spare side plate off ebay and progressively sanding the engraving off of it. I wanted to keep the lower half where it says "senator", but I think I'll have to take it all off to make it look even. Anyway, they all seemed pretty curious about it so if I ever end up doing it I'll try and take pics along the way so I can do tutorial if it works out.

DO this .......get you an extra sideplate from the parts dept. then i you can experiment on it,that way if it doesn't work out, you still have yours intact!
You know there's a companythat makes aluminum sideplates,& will put whatever you want on it......
If you are good with a paintbrush or able to draw your design on & fill it in with paint , seal it with clear laquer maybe, or polyurethane ,
Just ideas off the top of my head; sounds like you got a neat idea & a cool design too!
I thought about the aluminum plates from PENN custom shop w/"DIXIE OUTLAW" across the top & "S.FLA. REBEL SPECIAL " along the bottom with the MAKO pic on it awhile back,
