Cleaning/storing lever drag reels

after a long day on the beach , what is your cleaning method for your baby ? Do u lock down drag while rinsing ? Use soap ? Use warm/cold water ? Toothbrush ? After cleaning do u leave your preset on low ? Leave your drag on low ? if u fished bridge/pier do u clean less ? What about when sand gets kicked on your reel ? What do u do if u drop it in the sand ? Drop it in the ocean ? Pour water bottles on your reel/spool when it has a bait out on it ? Polish it ? switch both speeds while rinsing ? Wax it ? Blow dry it ? Tuck it in ? Kiss goodnight ? Let's hear it ...

I typically take the reel off the rod for quick maintenance. First, I take a stiff wire brush to all the line on the reel. Then I make a paste out of peanut butter, compost and steel shavings and pack it into the crank bearings. I usually use a hammer to do this. For the lever drag, I'll mix up JB Weld and work it into the mechanism. The sand will stick to it real well. Then I'll put the reel in the laundry dryer with 4 bricks and run it for about 15 to 20 minutes. When it comes out, I'll spray it with some Penn reel cleaner spray and I'm good to go. Hope this helps.

I lock mine down, rinse with cold or warm water thoughowly will turning the handle to get as much salt off as I can think of.

The brick and dryer technique works wonders also
