Personaly i have had corosion problems with the allumnum stuf. The chrome plated brass is heavier but needs no maintance. I had an aftco allumnum uni but that fished side by side with crome plated brass and i had to take the reel off with a grinder. I coat my allumnum with greese and deal with the mess. My chrome stuff i just take it apart once a year and clean it. Lakeland makes a large chrome plated brass seat at a good price. I ride my stuf hard and put it away wet so only the tough last.

You're right Ernie aluminum will build up that thick crud known as corrosion but the chrome over brass holds up much better.I like Lakeland and Varmac which is oldschool but it last and that's important,,,,,not only that but it's heavy duty stuff proven in over 40 years that they;ve been making reelseats.Fuji is nice stuff but I never seen heavy duty seats for 14/0 s an 16/0s from Fuji besides there stuff is usually made from plastic or composite materials which can't match steel or brass for strength.
