Just ordered one of this blanks for my first custom rod. Anybody have any pros and cons to this blank? Ordered it for 43 bucks :D

very nice price for the blank when i saw the blank it was like 80 bucks

I know where you got it! lol. I bought several blanks this week from the same place, mosts were near half price of the normal going rate.

I like the baja boomers, they have a soft tip but lots of power. The con's are that the butt end is too big for any standard available gimbles. It will have to be sanded, cut, or have a custom gimble machined if you are wanting to use it full length.

The last few I built were cut down on the back in to go in short unibutts, they make wonderful shark rods.

oh didnt know about the butt end information, Thanks for telling me that i was just about to order a gimbal.all those blanks were a steal too! :lol:

for the gimbal you can epoxy a dowl rod in the but of the blank a inch or 2 and epoxy the gimbal to that.
