Just need Stuart Reel seat for around $65 the 1 1/2 inch one, w/tuna block.
And a grip for the bottom $7
And someone to put it togeather for me.
I'm so close to getting this setup all ready for the BHC.
Just found my reel seat in Ft. Lauderdale @ T and R Tackle Shop
#6 EXT All Silver Stuart w/tuna block. They want $70 for it........
Going to just bite the bullet and grab it on monday...
Then Just the bottom grip and someone to put it all together.
Got the reel seat it's a Stuart #6 I think it was called "XFT" I can't rember
but it will hold the 16 0. It slides all the way off the blank pleanty of room.
I'm now down to the EVA foam block and again I ran into problems...
Mudhole is out of the color black... So i could do Green,Royal blue,Navy, or Red or should I just wait it out for the Black??? What color for the grips
...or you can go with one size smaller, wrap it in a wet cloth, (this creates an steaming effect enough to soften the eva but in the same time to keep it dry) then microwave it for about 20sec till feels soft, then unwrap the warm cloth and slide the eva all the way down where you want it. When the eva will get back at the room temperature, it will be near to impossible to slide it more down. So, be sure to get it right, while the eva is warm. Although, before you do all that, the blank needs to be epoxied all the way up to the point where the eva stops naturally while at the room temperature. I fit a .8" ID on a 1.32" blank using this method. DO NOT PUT THE EVA IN BOILED WATER - that's outdated!
You'll notice that after sliding down the eva, there will be a lot of leftover epoxy - i would continue using same - already mixed epoxy - to attach the reelseat and the front eva grip. In that way you'll have all the bottom blank ready for the next phase, 24h later.
with the microwave trick like bohgy was talking about, ive had grips mis shape after like 10 seconds in the microwave. another way is to use ruber cement as a lube. alot of rod building guys are now doing this and you can stretch the eva to about twice its inside diameter.
