Big gear

I have had several 80 and 130 class reels but have settled on a black Duel 9/0 2 speed as my primary go to big reel. Its specs are 850 yards of 80lb mono, I may go with 100lb mono. I really like the way it feels, very compact for a 80 class reel, and turning the handle backwards for low gear is awesome compared to having to push buttons and fumbling to shift gears

At some point you may want to upgrade to a 12/0 or bigger because you need the yardage and 130 lb test if you want to catch the really big show stoppers. The power of a huge shark is hard to describe and line will melt away before your eyes,,,,,you can tighten down and hope to stop him but your 80 or 100 lb test can only take so much.Don't get me wrong many big sharks have been caught with 80 and 100 lb test but believe me stick to the 130 lb test it will last longer against coral heads, scrapes, ropes ,markers etc, etc. You'll need every advantage you can get and the heavier line puts the odds in your favor.

I now have both a black Duel 2 speed 9/0 wide and black Duel 2 speed 9/0 regular. The wide version has 600 yards of 130lb Jerry Brown spectra and 400 yards of 130lb Izoline mono topshot.

but im a young guy myself only 26
hell you can fish the beach with 50 i do most of the time but see i put some thought into it an my line never touches the bottom

so i'll put my 9/0 out a few hundred yards cause i only fish 50 on it but still the line never touches the bottom

you can fish that 80 or 100lb line its great to handle and easy to fish with but remember one day if your lucky or unlucky what ever you wanta call it your going to hook a fish you have to try and stop what size line do you wanta have when that happens
