you get what you pay for. if youre going to invest in an avet you shouldnt skimp on the rod.

not many rods off the shelf can take abuse of a trx there is a few but i would get in contact with one of the many builders on here and look into a gator glass 80-130 or 80-unlimited 10 footer. there are a few of them floating around on here and every one loves them and they can be custom built for a decent price to.

Unless he is almost exclusively fishing off a bridge, a heavy cumbersome 10 ft unlimited class rod for a beginning shark fisherman or any shark fisherman for that matter is not really the best idea. The only need for a rod like that is to help keep the fish off the bridge pilings, any other situation a rod like that is next to useless imho. I'd go with something more balanced and easier to handle. Chances are he will never use close to what that reel puts out.

haha a trx will snap a shakespeare tiger into three pieces and leave u with dust!! id get one of these for a 30w http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shark-Rod-8-ft- ... 5645e52cb8
or if u want a shorter rod i used one of these, but i had an 80w which was kind of overpowering the rod http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Wh-Blu-Shar ... 5640e98d5b
hell of a rod and perfect for a 30 or 50w bends good all of this guys rods are good and for the components he uses are nice and if u had a rod built by buying the components he uses the rod would be way more expensive. but i prefer a 10 foot rod but thats just me since i dont have time for th gym the telephone pole will keep me in shape ;)

Dude I saw you get tossed around by a 7' lemon on that beanstalk w/ bowling ball reel..whenever I see you with that thing I don't know if you're going to put a bait out or flip yourself over a parallel bar onto a big blue mat

Lets fish, the tarpon are going nuts and you won't need to bring that andre the giant setup along :D

Ummmm why get a 30w trx unless you are boat fishing? You will NEVER spool it to use all the drag fishing from shore unless you run what 250-300yds of 200 braid which is far from enough for shore fishing

the 30w will hold 1000 yard of 100lb braid and 690 yards of 130 lb braid..I think thats enough for a beginner and plus a topshot of mono.

Yes well when you have your bait out 200yds and the shark takes your bait and starts running. You will hit it to strike and go to set the hook, well the 100lbs of drag is going to break 100-130lb braid like butter.........

Avet is a GREAT choice, I would say better than an international. If you must have a trx then get a 50w, but honestly the drag out of a regular 50w or 80w should suffice for most sharks.

i would get a 50w over the 30w trx. and if your not a big guy that can hold your ground you wont fish a trx to its full potential.
