"I've been speaking with Avet for the last week almost on a daily basis. One of the reps named Scott has been helping me with an issue.I just got off the phone with him from an hour long conversation.Avet is considering making a 130.Scott asked me to post this on here and where ever else will help get exposure.

IF you will please copy and paste this everywhere help spread the word.
Facebook,Twitter,Myspace,Forums anywhere that it can be seen.Do not double post on the same site.

IF you would like to have a 130 from avet he needs to have x amount of people request it so they can build one.

I need you to personally email him telling him you would like to have a 130.

I'd like to see a 130 from avet Alot of the guys fishing the West coast of the U.S have already talked to him about it but he needs more people.

Please when you email him mention my name "jonathan Cotler" So he knows where this came from.

his email is scott@avetreels.com

Thank you"

"OK - Let me clarify this a little for Scott's benefit. I have been talking to Scott for three years in regards to Avet reels and land based shark fishing - thats why if you look on Avets webpage we are represented as a group with several landbased sharkfishing photos in their gallery. Avet is looking to POSSIBLY produce a 130 class reel - while its a great conversation point as far as a message board goes please DO NOT bombard Scott with e-mails about this reel. Avet is looking for 200 people to commit to PURCHASING a 130 class reel which will most likely retail in excess of $1100.00 - this is not to be mean spirited or negative but they are interested solely in those people who will commit to PURCHASE on of these reels. Its great to discuss this topic here on the board - have fun with it - but please DO NOT email Scott unless you are serious about purchasing a 130 class reel and willing to write the $1k plus check to get it.

Thanks guys,

Scout (Dustin)"

So I was just browsing another forum (not trying to cheat on SFSC  ) and I saw this thread about the possibility of avet manufacturing a 130 class reel! Now with all of the new interest, sparked mainly by Peter Buban and his awesome catches lately (congrats by the way ;) ), there are a ton of land based sharkers making the switch from the senators of beaches past to the new, shiny, behemoth 130s. Many people have mixed feelings about Tiagras (part issues) and some guys don't care for the internationals. But I feel that one company that has been unanimously accepted and has proved itself time and time again is Avet, and they have even started to force most of the smaller senators out (12/0 and smaller). I just thought I would post this little bit of excitement into our forum for those who haven't heard it yet and possibly get a few AVET 130s on the beaches of south florida. This might finally be something to help cure the heartache of a smoking 16/0 and a hammer that you never get to see. Hell it might end it all together with the drag these beasts would undoubtedly be able to put out. And look at it this way... its cheaper than putting a 12,000lb winch on your truck

Tight lines,
Nash

I think I heard somewhere that they were considering it but I couldn't tell you how far in the process they are. But that would definitely be somethin to see, and 80w with 100+ pounds of drag  you better be strapped in when you lock that beast down lol

Both the Fin Nor Santiago 80w and Okuma Makaira 80w can put out 100 pounds of drag.

are they gonna produce a bigger back that fits in the reelseat so there is no movement from side to side? i had an avet 80w and a varmac NF6H reelseat on a 10ft gator unlimited and it moved back and forth even after being clamped and the reelseat being tightened..due to that is the only and biggest reelseat i could find! just a thought..

Are you talking up and down (butt to tip) or side to side (left to right)? I think with any reel that size you will have the side to side movement. I would just tighten up your harness straps to help keep it still.

Put a few wraps of electrical tape on the reel mount it should help.

Taping the rod sounds like a good idea. And I was just going from my experience with my 14/0, and I've never fished a 130 (and an 80w only a few times) so it might be a little different. Its probably just gonna come down to trial and error to find what works.

I'd buy one. Mainly because I don't want a tiagra and the Penns are outdated. IF they can beat Okuma to the sales floor and, since its a limited buy, do custom engraving on the side plate then I'm in. I'll take mine with a Tiger shark and my two first initials and last name.

Yeah the custom would need to be a must for such a high end reel

Accurate 130s are over $2k. While I don't mind spending money on a reel, I won't use a 130 every trip and it's one of those things that I want but don't need, so I'm sitting on the idea while waiting for a fair price. Again, the Santiago's, not as expensive, are great reels but I haven't seen a price I just can't pass up. The penns and shimanos are all over the net for bargain prices and I just don't want one of them.

A limited production avet 130 I could pay full price for. It's a piece of history and if anything were to be wrong with the first productions I know avet will back them and fix the issue.

I sent an email and never heard anything back. What site did you originally find this info?

Sharks on the sand, though the post was from a little while ago
