9/0 drag Slipping?

I recently purchased a used 9/0. It's an older model with chrome spool has 200 pound braid on it. My question is I tied it off to the back of my truck tightened the drag the whole
Way and when I really lean on the rod the drag slips. Is that normal or does the reel need to have the drag replaced?

That reel gets what, 23 lbs of drag? Doesn't seem unreasonable that you were able to get it to slip. Overkill putting 200 lb braid on that thing, might want to drop it to 80 or 65 for capacity.

RichardS is right, the 9/0 gets 30 lbs of drag when new. Since it's a popular reel you can upgrade the drag if you want, there are a lot of options. But you have a good reel, I fish with 2 of them. And they can bring in big fish, I think it was the 2013 Big Hammer Challenge where someone brought in a 10 foot hammerhead (something like that) on a 9/0.

I have a 12/0 and 14/0 In the mail on the way to me. I'm going to switch the 9/0 over to 80 pound braid I have about 7000 yards of 80 lb braid left. What is the best upgrade for the drag?

Test it with a scale. The 9/0 doesn't have a lot of drag. It shouldn't take too much effort to make it slip.
