80lb/100lb/130lb
line capacity or stoping power whats your choice ..do you spool up heavy line to try to stop them or smaller line hopping thay will stop ![]()
I GO 130 OR MORE ON MY 12S AND 14S AND TRY TO STOP THEM I BELIEVE IF YOU LET THEM RUN OUT TO LONG YOU CANT CANT STOP WITH TO MUCH LINE OUT
Study what Walter Maxwell did in 1964 on a pier in South Carolina to get his 1780 lb World Record Tiger shark and you will have the answer.Biggest reel you can find with plenty of line capacity and heaviest line allowed by IGFA if a world record is something you consider might take your bait.Personally with the amount of times that we have been spooled we like the 14/0 and 16/0 and a wide open beach without any obstructions that could cut the line in the heat of battle,,,,,,,,,don't get any better then that beach and that monster 1500 pounder trying to burn up your reel and drag your ass in the water with him.

I use 80lb and/or 100lb big game. Most of the beaches I fish are free of obstructions and we have been able to stop most of the fish we have hooked so far. Not sure if I could sustain much more pressure than I already put on them.
We do have one favorite spot, we really like in september but always seem to get cut off on the bigger sharks. After reading this I might try the heavier line to see if that will help.
