My 9/0 was spooled with Momoi 50 and I got 850 yards on a chrome spool. Got a 7.5 foot hammer on it, 2 hours, didn't wanna lock it down with 50 lb, but not sure about 40.

im curous how you guys are getting so much line on your reels...i had mine filled by the machine a bass pro and only got a little over 400 yards on it. with the 50lb bullbuster line i was thinking i would get about 700 yds. should i be getting more on that reel?

The specs on the 9/0 says 650 of 50lbs,the blk spools....the brass holds 75-100yds more...I have the old one but different mono's have different diameter....YOU SHOULD HOLD MORE!!! 8-)

If you want to be prepared properly and only have a 9/0 you should do 500-600 yards of 65lb braid, then itll still hold about 325 yards of 80lb mono on top. then you have the capacity to stop a larger shark and the 325yrds of mono to sit in the water after you drop your bait so your braid doesnt get messed up on the bottom. that how i do it on my small reels such as a 6/0 and 9/0, but to be honest i havent used a reel that small for a while after seeing my buddies 12/0 get spooled, and 50wide get spooled this year!!!!

my favorite lb test for a 9/0 is 60lb and it got me my 10ft tiger shark and this was before i had braid backing and off of a pier he hit the bait straight up and down and went out

Just an average fisherman.

When I spooled my 50# 9/0 I got 500 yds of 50 spiderwire and 550 yds of mono, total 1050 yds This is matched with a gatorglas 50# rod. I built this setup thinking about my 10 year old grandson. my 80# setup holds 600 yds of 80# spiderwire and 350 yds of 80 mono. With smaller reels like 9/0s the braid topshot combo really shines when it comes to capacity
