A couple weeks ago we stumbled over a good one. We had been catching a few fish but kinda slow in general. The crew for the night was John Cuthrell, Brett Casto, Bill Dunlop and me. Winds were sw at 15. ORCA put 6 baits out and johns was 200yds with a big Bonita that he caught himself. First run picked up and bout time to set up it droped. 20 min later back for more and got more than it expected. 30 min on the 14/0. It made several short runs and a steady tug of war. As it approached the pier it came in 5 pylons down from the end. Just as it went under I got the leader. Took all I could do to keep it out of the pylons. The best leader man fight iv ever had and won. We head roped it so we could control. The rope hit first try and to the beach we go. Got to the beach, pulled him up and got a few pics and a tooth. Then we sent it on it's way. Swam away strong. I was out of tags so no tag in this big 11' male. Johns biggest land based shark. He put his time and heart in to catching it. Congratulations John Cuthrell. Fine fish. CATCH AND RELEASE!!! Brett is gonna put some pics up.

And that's one beautiful fish!

Posting a pic that I missed when posting the others:

And for those who haven't met him, John' not a small man. When we dropped the head rope down I was seriously wondering if it would even fit around the beast's head. He was massive.

Consistency is the key. Ya may make a shot in the dark once in a while but being consistent is the trick.

Nice Tiger John congratulations to you and the crew of Team True Blue,,,,but then again fishin with a veteran like Ernie you knew it was gonna happen. Ernie teaches the fundamentals and the stuff you only learn with years in the game. The main thing is to be consistent in the shark fishing if ya wanna get the big ones.
