8 sharks in 22 hours!!!! 6 Bulls, 1 spinner,1 lemon!(2009)
Me my wife Sandra,2 year old daughter Brianna and two friends Johnie Fuqua, and johnathin wozar headed out to the keys thursday night at 11pm. We arrived to our destination with a realy good feeling, We had big fresh baits, and the weather was beautiful!!!! We unload all the gear and sandra is the one who gets the head start as she puts out our first bait at around 2am. Right away her sting ray gets nailed, and she is nervous, but very pumped at the same time for her first shark fishing from a bridge. We knew she would do fine because she had two great captains in me and hammer jr (johnie fuqua) coaching her up for 15 minutes before she got hit.
' sounded kinda like this'
"Sandra look you can do this!!! heres what you need to do"
step1 pick up rod, take it out of gear, and tighten the star while letting shark eat
step 2 lock drag and reel tight till you cant reel anymore
step 3 with both hands set the hook and let the rod slam to bridge on only the plastic if it has to.
Bridge shark fishing is way way harder and very different from beach fishing so we had her ready!!!
So back to the story Sandra sets the hook and gets pinned to the bridge with a few short runs,we tell her to pick rod up in the air and reel fast as her shark headed 2 pilings down the bridge, step for step she listened and Booooooooooo yahhh she lands her first shark from bridge a 7 ft lemon!!!
so we go back to snapper fishing and before we could cut a chunk of ballywhoo johnnys rod starts screaming la la la la la la la la he sets the hook on his 16/0 and makes quick work out of his 6ft bull. we release it and on the walk back to our camp we heard two reels screaming full speed, my 14/0 and sandras 14/0 which had big moray eels on them. I get to my rod first and set the hook but have to run far to the right to follow him leaving sandra all alone with her shark. I yell to johnny "i got mines go help sandra" and to everyones surprise johnny arrives to sandra sitting on a big 6ft spinner shark straight up and down already beat. She lands her second shark from bridge alone in the dark with no flashlight and no one to coach her up. Johnny ended this night with one more 6ft bull and off we went to long key bridge, sun coming up, and zero sleep. We get to our hole and start nailing big yellow jacks with buck tails. Johnny decides to walk one and it pays off with a cuda. We stay catching yellow jacks and cudas all day long and left loaded with shark bait right before night fall. We return to our secret spot led by 2yr old Brianna and her spot light, hopping in front of our cart full of rods and yelling "shark shark" excited from all the action the night before. Johnny flips out a big cuda head and literally within 2 mins he was on. He sets up and starts getting burned, 3mins into his fight my 14/0 starts screaming and we got a double header at our hands. We walk both sharks to the sea wall, mine being a 5ft bull and johnnys a 7ft 200lb bull. Knees buckling with 30 sum hours without sleep, whiny, snapper fishing Jonathan Wozar couldnt take being left out of the action anymore so he decideds to put out his first shark bait in the last 3yrs and ends up catching a nice 6ft bull and capping off a memorable red hot trip!!!!!!

Great report, Shannon. A special congrats to Sandra who is becoming a hard core sharker. Shannon, you're not supposed to eat the shark bait! LOL, I'm referring to the yellow jack in your teeth! I can see the future without a crystal ball---> Brianna gets her first shark rod for her 5th birthday & nobody in kindergarten believes her when she goes to school & tells them she caught a shark on the weekend! Love you guys & I'm glad to see Johnnie back out on the bridges!
Looks like you guys had an amazing trip.. i cant wait to make it down there next weekend with you guys. Nice double header there btw.
