Been slacking on this for a while with the 2010 Big Hammer Challenge the whole month of April and my dad in the hospital taking so much of my time but here it is again.

MARCH'S- SFSC SHARKER OF THE MONTH

Colby Uva(right) with his 8 ft 8 inch Bull Shark biggest in the 2010 BHC Warmup Tourney

Colby Uva is not only an intense land-based shark hunter but a very smart student of Marine Science at the University of Miami.Colby Uva is a multi talented, energetic but mild mannered fisherman and shark tournament founder that also finds time in his full schedule to be a spokesman for the South Florida Shark Club. This year he organized and ran the very succesful 1st Annual BHC Warmup Tourney which was held from March 12 -March 18.Colby goes to school full time, works part time and still finds time to give of himself to promote responsible, ethical land-based shark fishing practices. He dilligently works alongside marine biologist in the tagging of bonefish at his part time job and maintains the lines of communication open between well known Florida shark researchers and the shark club.Colby goes beyond the call of duty in representing the rights of shark fisherman on other websites as well .Colby Uva is the finest example of an involved ,responsible representative of the South Florida Shark Club and we are honored to have him as a member. We expect great things from this inspired, intelligent young man.Congratulations to Colby Uva our March Sharker of The Month..

APRIL 2010 SFSC SHARKER OF THE MONTH

Our April sharker of the month should be a no brainer with Ernie Polk's massive 11 ft 9 inch long Tiger shark but there is a talented angler in our midst who developed a new technique for land based shark fishing during the BHC in April that will change the way we fish for sharks from land from now on.This new technique deserves our recognition and Ray employed it to catch not one ,not two, but three hammerhead sharks in this year's tournament.
For April 2010 these two outstanding shark hunters (Ernie Polk and Raymundo Muniz) tied for Sharker Of the Month.

Ernie Polk is on the way to becoming a land-based shark fishing LEGEND with his amazing catches from Florida panhandle beaches.Ernie won the 2010 Big Hammer Challenge with his big pregnant 80 inch girth female Tiger shark with a estimated weight of 960 lbs.The big female Tiger was tagged and released which was the best part of the whole thing .Ernie Polk also holds the world record for Mako shark caught from land.

Raymundo Muniz is an extremely competitive shark hunter who fishes with a fierce passion .His catching of three hammerhead sharks in the 2010 Big Hammer Challenge is a first for any angler in any past BHC tournament.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH THESE FINE SHARK HUNTERS

ps-Raymundo will divulge his newly developed method when he is ready.
