(NOV 2012)Thresher Shark deep dropping off Miami
I went day time swording yesterday with on my friend who is starting a fishing charter in miami's boat. We hooked up about 20 minutes into our 2nd drop and the fight was on! We split the fight in shifts for the next 3 hours. There was one point where we went 20 minutes straight without gaining a single yard of line. Finally 2 hours and 45 minutes in we brought the fish up from 1680 feet and disconnected the 17 lb weight and we started to see color. With the harpoon ready for a sword we we had mixed feelings of disapointment and excitement as this HUGE thresher shark came up! Its head was where the outrigger started on the sportfish and its tale was past the end of the stern.. (somewhere between 12-15 feet) we have to measure out the stern to find out.
Here are some pics!
