Yours truly, the traveling sharker JD Hammer; coast to coast

Due to schoolwork this is the earliest I have been able to post up these pictures for JD. Lots and lots of pictures.

The first set of pictures will range from miscellaneous to a small secret trip to the keys.

Rosa at a jetty that I don't know.

Jack attack is destined every trip to the keys if you're ready or not.

Old unorthodox method produces sharks.

No Name

a redfish caught on a bucktail at an undisclosed location in the keys.

-Jd Hammer...the scenery contest rages on

-Mark Resto

On to the west coast

Egmont key ferry dock and pier.

a view of skyway

it took me more than 5 failed attempts, but I finally made it out to the Fort Desoto pier.

Party

Nice mount.

What kind of mounted fish is that?

tug of war against Stelarol and his everol 12/0 vs. my pumpkin 12/0 special
it was tough, I bruised my thighs, but I got the swivel to my rod, my 12/0 has an intense drag

Little guy called out the raffle numbers

and there is your winner next to me, got a very nice rod to start off for 2012!

for 2011 I pulled out with some impressive catches, biggest shark from a pier, biggest jack, and biggest tarpon, I have to say despite the bad words I give on lakeworthless pier all the time (snapped 2 rods there  ), it's a nice spot to fish and the people are all cool, I'll be out there for 2012 for sure.

Now for the famed North coast of Florida as I like to call it.

Jd pushed his way up north and fished south until he made it back home.

first stop

bunch of

kayak my bait partner

no problem 8-)

gone

retrieval

baits out

Yee Ol' floating trick or bait slid up a rigging? not sure.

One hook up

well now what do I do?

pull her up.

massive tippers

crap...

double crap.

The monument of an extraordinary catch.

hooked up #2

and #3

tippers

bringin' it in

another one up

fun time too

another

I think the sharks get caught on purpose just so they can come up on the pier, say Hi and go down on the awesome ride.

Next stop

Keep on keepin' on.

cool spot

This is the best part of this whole post... DO READ.

So JD made his way to Cape San Blas and the temperature was too cold for any shark action... He put out 2 bonitas (one on each hook  ) on his duel anyways. He was getting thirsty and remembered he didn't have his measuring tape with him, figuring he wasn't going to get hit he asked an old man fishing next to him to watch his rod for him.

This man was 79 and "too old for this shit".

Sure enough, Murphy's law struck that rod so hard it got a screaming hit. The old man flipped up the lever drag, set the hook and held on for his life. By the time JD got back the man had nearly let go of the heavy harnell and duel being tugged at high speeds.

JD reeled in the impossible shark

bout' 6ft

If I were to guess I would say it was a sandbar.. JD couldn't identify it in the chaos of the situation.

THE END.

Just an average fisherman.

On the tug of war, the everol never gave a MM of line. The 12/0 senator needed two hands in it and it still gave up line  I had just spooled it with 300 and didnt pack the topshot tight (figured when I let out the first bait I could do it, only 100yds) so it dug into itself and backlashed leaving me no chance to reel. I will be ready next time :D

Awesome pics, I am envious of JDs trips all over. That is true retirement!

Very nice spinners! That is a great photo to finally end this "spinner - blacktip" debate. Spinners are much rarer than blacktips. Look at these photos and you will be able to tell the difference.

PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT THESE PHOTOS:

Spinner Shark:
- black spot on anal fin
- dorsal fin behind pectoral fins
- smaller dorsal fin

Blacktip Shark:
- white anal fin
- the dorsal fin is closer to the pectoral fins
- larger dorsal fin

"He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction" (Proverbs 13:3).

Next time I may have a better reel to combat with (secret mission time).

your right Josh, when I talk about the two species I usually refer to them both as tippers.
