Weekend report (February 27th and 28th)
Hey guys, just a quick report to throw out there.
Arrived at Lauderdale airport at around 10 am and got down to business right away. Nick and I hit up the tackle shop so i could pick up the necessary rigs and equipment and get the 16/0 checked out. After that we went to my place to work on catching some bait in the intercoastal to no avail. Nick had a great weekend planned out and we hit the beach on friday night. we used Bonitos and a stingray for bait. Got to the beach at around 5 or 6pm, got everything set up. After some hilarious kayaking complications (rough seas dumped some of us a few times and we almost lost on oar) we had all the baits out ranging between 100 and out to 300 yards. We got our first hit relatively early and after a short battle we had a nice looking dusky (we think it was a dusky or sandbar) on the beach. It was dehooked and released without a hitch. A few hours later we hooked up with a nice nurse shark that was also released healthy. We ended our successful sharking outing and about 2:30 am and went home. It was nice to meet shane for the first time that night.
Saturday night we hit Golden Beach at around 3 in the afternoon. After and slight complication with the local police department (some moron called the cops because he thought we were trespassing) we had the baits kayaked out. I was the first one to get a run on my 16/0 out at 500 yards. The shark quickly cut me off. Next it was nick that hooked up on his 14 0. After a nice fight, the shark got loose just outside the breakers. I got a nice view of him and it was between 5 and 6 foot. A little later in the evening mike gets a hit on his 80w and brings in a nice blacktip. This was the most exciting fish that we caught because of the fact that we got to put the tagger in use for this first time. After a successful tag and release we called it a night so everyone could get some much needed rest.
On sunday, the weather didnt cooperate with us so nick and i decided to fish a little off my dock in the intercoastal.
Overall this fishing trip was one of the most memorable i have had in a while. It was a great time with some great new friends. We caught some nice sharks and had a blast. I am already excited about my next sharking adventure which will take place between march 25-march 31st. Shark fishing is quickly turning into an addiction for me!!
Happy fishing,

fishing from the dock is usually hit or miss. Somedays you can catch a fish every 5 five minutes from jack, to cudas, small sharks, snook, snapper etc. Somedays however i wont have a bite. In fact over thanksgiving I went 5 days without catching a thing. Summer is good for small sharks on light tackle. Its lots of fun, your welcome to join any time.
