Urgent- does anyone know California shark fishing spots???
im leaving on wed to go up the coast of california, im flying into san diego and working my way up to san fran. im going to be offshore fishing on charters. i was wondering were the best towns are for sharks? and if possible if there are any offshore shark legends anyone might know? i would love to hook into some makos, whites, tigers, or thrashers.
Heres a list of sportfishing boats in Cali that i found. not sure how good they are but there are a bunch that you can call.

I dont know about offshore but if you want to target them from piers there are tons of sharks off of santa monica and malibu piers. The guys over there dont do it like we do with big reels and baits at least from what I've seen. Biggest I've ever seen out there was a 50 and they cast out baits or outrig them. Lots of threshers and leapards out there. Put a BIG bait off of malibu and you'll hook up to a white. Just watch out for the buoy's. Nobody out there puts out anything bigger than a 12" mackeral so they don't hook up to the whites. Its all fillet n release in Cali so nobody even wants to hook up to a white. If you go out to santa monica pier watch for Captain, you can't miss him and he knows more than any of the other guys out there and he's the only guy that speaks/understands english.
If you go out in a boat or pier Malibu has deep water so I'd say thats your best bet.
Leapard I saw a guy catch a couple weeks ago off santa monica
I grew up on Pacifica Pier and during the El Nino's we used to catch Thresher Sharks. Every once in a while we would see a small GW. Lately, there have been small Salmon Sharks being caught. My buddy caught one while Striper fishing in the surf, he thought it was a GW at first.
For those who have surf fished in California, is it true the surfers are hostile towards beach fishermen?
"He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction" (Proverbs 13:3).

Yes, the surfers are strait ass holes. I have had them tell me I couldn't fish and have to leave (I was only 13) and I gave them plenty of space to surf.
Now I just use 80 lb braid and a 1 pound weight, if they want to mess with me they will close-line themselves
But in California once you have a spot, don't let anyone take it
