ULTRA ULTRA ULTRA Light report #2.

After much wait and many fish lost, I've decided to target some new fish to mark off my list on the XXXUltra blank and super compact sharkin' combo...

Also had to come around to beat Hammer in our photo contest!

First bass on it...

First cuda

It whipped me for 10 minutes straight and even gave me a backlash.

Just an average fisherman.

That is awesome. Can you give some details on the rod, reel, and line used on it.

She holds 100 yards of 8lb mono... I use rapala tough, it's absolutely the best ultralight stuff I've ever seen. I might switch to 15lb braid if I ever get owned with the 8lb mono lol. The rod is a penfishingrod.com extreme model... but the tip was broken off by a friend so it's about 8 inches shorter, which is fine because it was too flimsy for a conventional to begin with... good if you use one of their spinning models though. This conventional is really beastly... once you get the drag rolling out it's smooth and you can pop your own line if you lock down on it. No clicker... it really sucks if you get a backlash because it goes into the reel and you have to open it up to get it out most of the time. So you better be good if you choose the conventional model. I modified it right after I got it... forgot what the problem was but I added an insert between the star and the handle for some reason.

Enough time fishing that thing will hurt your hands  . I definitely recommend a spinning set up as opposed to the conventional.. this is tough.

The rod isn't built of the best stuff ever but it will last if you take care of it. When mine finally dies I'm gonna build a rod for that awesome little reel. :ugeek:

NICE CUDA on that gear,
I have to find a way to post pics taken w/ 35MM I could show the very first Shark I ever caught,"kindaultra lite{for Sharks anyway}" straight 17# Silverthread, to a #4 circle hook in a Pinfish livelining for Snook & the Shark hit I was sitting right next to it, & a Blue Damselfly was flittin' around the two rods,
So I was daydreaming just sitting there, & said "Whichever Rod that DamselFly lands on will get the first Bite today"
About 10 seconds later , he lit on the "Snook Assassin" casting rod 6'long, built on a "Ugly Stik "blamk, w/ Ambassadeur 6500Ci, just then the Rod jerked & the clicker sang,
I grabbed it immediately <&set the hook
Thatr Circle Hook #4 , took him right in the corner of the mouth he couldn't bite thru the line! Couldn't reach it I guess, it was a nice Fight, on that gear . never got to measure him but hewas longer than my legs & I'm 6' 225#so I took the hook out & let him go as soon as I got the hook out ,my girlfriend [now Wife} snapped a quick pic ,I have it in a pile of albums .
