Thursday 8/26/10 with Team Blackbart

Got outta school around 3 and got a call from chris sayin he was at the beach wanting to know if I wanted to come and to bring the yak since he left his at home. Called up Kyle to see if we wanted to go so he brought the avet 80w. I had some homework to get done and had baits in the water by 6. Dropped 3 baits one on chris' 50w, one on the 80w and one on my 9/0. Once we dropped the baits we started catching snook, macs, ladyfish, and all sorts of other stuff on diamond jigs and chris and dave were using their flyrods. Around 7:30sih chris' tip bounced then went slack. The fish kept picking up the bait and dropping it we were hoping hammer but after it kept running around with it and dropping it for about a minute we knew it was a tip. Finally the fish started running with the bait and chris reeled down tight and leaned back on em'. After 3mintues at the most I see the top swivel, grab the leader and pull a little 4ft tip out of the wash. We get a few quick pics of the fish get the hook out and turn her loose. that was the only shark hit of the night but the action on fly made sitting out their in the rain worth it plus I learned alot of from chris and dave from just being with them for 2 or 3hrs. My wire tying skills suck but with help from chris and dave it has improved a bit dave also showed me a much better knot for tying 80-200lb mono to the swivel. Overall a slow night but I great learning experience.
