Me, Redryder, his dad and Thunderbolt left for Gorda at around 4:30 Friday evening. None of us have ever fished there but we were determined to try it out. We were going to meet Txredneck and his brother down there and he got there at 3:00 and he gave us a call on the way down there and he told us that they couldnt keep up with there rods they were getting so many runs. This just made us even more anxious to get down there. We stopped at buddys and picked up 2 rays and some shrimp and got held up at the draw bridge for 30 minutes
. We finally got down the beach to where Dusty was and he showed us pics and talked for a little bit then we went and set up camp about 100 yards from him. We rigged up and set out the rods. We set out mullet and a ray. About and hour later my 4/0 with mullet shot out and i ran to it and it was FISH ON!! It was a rather a short fight and i landed this 44in Bull Red

This fish was healthy and was released.
Although this was not what we were looking for it still got us pumped. We stayed up and waited but decided to go to bed. In the middle of the night my 6/0w with the ray lets out a few slow clicks but i left it. nothing for the rest of the night. We woke up early the next morning and set out fresh bait. Dusty gave us a fresh whiting and Thunderbolt yaked it out on his 9/0. not 10 minutes later it let out a screaming run and He set the hook and it was Fish on!!!

After about 15 minutes i got the leader and me and Dusty dragged him to land.

Not much a report for you guys. Dog ended up not being able to go so it turned out to be me and another member of Team Bullfishin making our way down to PINS. It was pretty tough fishing and, despite our best efforts, we did not turn a single click. Did everything I new how to do and then some, but just could not coax a bite. Big congrats to Jacob with that Spinner, I believe that sharked weighed more then he did.
Anytime you guys want to make your way to Texas, let us know!! We will come fish with ya for sure.

I saw the jetties at Destin when we were planning our first trip over there....heard ALOT of good stuff about the Bonita and Kings that frequent those rocks during the summer time....that is the next set of jetties on my list! Here are some of our jetty pics!

Man that is a wonderful set of pictures you posted hen-feen.You got some good shots there,,,my favorites are the ones of the kayak next to the pier and those bulls on the jetties.Fishing the jetties can be one of the most dangerous ways to pursue the toothy critters, specially when it,s jetties that have not been cemented over,,,those algae covered rocks add a new degree risk to the game.Again, great pics thanks for sharing them with us.

nice photos!....i grew up fishing on the Jettys but in recent years we had to stop due to the night time boat traffic with the popularity of the elusive swordfish that really got popular in the last 15 years.....so we took it back to the beach. we never kayaked bait like you do, we would float baits out with a balloon on out going tide.....mike ![]()
I forgot about the swords in the deep waters of Florida....in Texas we only get boat traffic during the day so we are forced to fish the nights which makes leadering the sharks that much more difficult because of the lack of visibility. It's a different game catching and releasing from the jetties....we hooked into a nice 6'4" Bull last year that died on us just after we had released it into the surf....she floated onto the end of the rocks by the tip of the jetty and we figured out that during the leadering the rope must've damaged her gill slits so we don't tie ropes around the jaw section anymore. Just little things that you learn along the way.
