still goin.. quick update-west coast pier and bridge report

I met up with some friends and stayed at their each house for a couple days, first night we fished the pier but it was nothing but pup sharks. We didnt have a kayak so we just used the surfboard, by climbing down the pier and puttin the bait on our beltloops or in our mouth.

after getting the bait out i climbed back up the pier and messed up my foot on either a barnacle or a nail which really hurt and slowed me down a lot for the rest of the weekend.
had lots of runs but none of the sharks were large enough to commit to eating the bait. So we left and got some rest. Early the next morning we headed to big carlos to fish for bait and shark fish all day. no sharks but we caught a big ray.

after we got our bait we decided to go sheepshead fishing. got three nice sheepshead and went back to big carlos to drop them for bait.

No sharks bit but we got a good collection of bait so we decided to go eat dinner and head down to the beach. As the night rolled on everyone was really tired so they went back to the house to sleep, I felt tired but i really wanted to catch a shark so i pulled thruough. after missing a ouple of sharks it gave me some hope to stay through the night so i slept on a beach chair and was later awoken by my avet rolling with a ten pound chunk of stingray on it. I let the shark eat and hit him with the running man, I didnt even know the shark was on for most of the fight and in the middle of the fight id stop reeeling and feel the line to feel a little bump, so i knew it was something . he didnt pull any drag, i just kind of reeled him in, ended up being a 6 foot bull.

this is my first solo shark.

It will warm up for you guys soon. On this coast you can't jump off the piers... Nice ray, The way you hooked that sheepshead it just looks like a nice shark will latch onto it and you'll pull the hook out of the bait. nice solo shark and nice snooks. Can't wait to get over there.

Just an average fisherman.

Nice report..good to see people are still swimming the bait out!! Not many people are willing to do that to get a nice fish..shows character.

Will, I believe that is Ft. Myers Beach Pier.
