Spring Break 2012 -a Hammer,a 11 ft 4 TIGER & a BurNin Avet

Well I finally had a week off to go fishing. I drove down from Orlando and met up with Pete Barrett and my friend Warren from South Africa (he was visiting Florida with his family) on the 6th and we fished that night. I had something playing with my bait and it stopped and then came back 20 minutes later. I thought it was a nurse or a blacktip. The fish didn't start to fight until it came close to shore. A few minutes later I saw the big dorsal and knew that it was a hammer. Pete and Warren got the tail rope on the shark.

About an hour later Pete hooks a monster that starts smoking his Avet 80w. We knew it was a big hammer. After about 700yds, the fish pulled the hook. Here is a video of the fish taking line:

That was the last bite of the night.

I was trying different spots and met some new people, including these guys from New Jersey who caught this monster tiger shark. The shark was 11'4" and incredibly fat!

Around mid-week, the wind picked up immensely and the weed was horrible, making the conditions unfishable. It stayed like this the rest of the trip, so I didn't really do much fishing. Instead I went to see the Florida Panthers win game 2 of the playoffs!
