SOUTHGASHARKERS ARE GETTING CRANKED UP

We had the whole crew down at the beach this weekend! me, (adam), mason, cameron, josh, james, john, and patrick. We went out friday night at about 3:30. Cameron and Mason put out their baits on the 80 wide and cams TRX 50w, and go figure, some idiot driving a catamaran is riding 50 yards off the beach and gets tangled in both of their rigs! they both lock down their reels and stop the thing in its tracks..... Cam ended up having to cut off about 150-200 yards of braid off his reel beacause of that!! After that we waited till right before dark to make sure this didnt happen again. We all got yakked out with cownoses and bonita as bait. Before we yakked we were seeing blacktips free jumping, so we knew they were here. And only 3 minutes after John had yakked out his 9/0 it took off. He got the shark in pretty quick and it ended up being a 4'10" Blacky

John hooked up.. sorry for no bend haha

johns shark tagged and released.

About an hour and a half later Jame's 12/0 goes off. It was a quick run, but after the hook set we didnt know if he was on, but james was reeling in as fast as he could. We all thought it was off until it got about 20 yards off the beach then it started to swim parralel with the beach swimming under every rod. I ran in and got him before he could get us tangled. And it turned out to be a BIG pregnant 6'0" Blacktip. This shark didnt fight at all, just charged the beach the whole time. This sharks weight was estimated around 135-140 lbs. THIS IS ANOTHER SHARK OVER THE STATE RECORD!!!

sorry for the horrible pictures of this shark, we were snapping as we were working to get it tagged and unhooked.

These pictures do this shark no justice!

after that shark we had to pack up and leave..

We came back the next afternoon with only bonita, and yakked out early with no problems from the sailboats!!

me and patrick waiting on a run

We had alot of nice runs, bonita getting mangled and chopped in half, but none had commited! around 8:45, patrick notices his line is slack so he reels up and feels pressure, but no fight.... turns out it was a 25 lb southern than had somehow managed to eat a whole bonita and get a 20/0 circle hook thru its lips. Patrick was really bummed out. But later, john and josh left to go get us some dinner, and around 9:20 Johns rod goes off again on a screaming run! this kids rod is crazy lucky. it always gets hit !! and it has caught a fish on every single trip it has to been to the beach!! After a little while, patrick sets the hook and this blacktip takes off. after about 15 minutes, patrick gets it in and its a 5'8" tipper.

After this shark we waited a little while longer and had a good run on the 80 wide, but couldnt connect.

Sunday afternoon we went down again, and LUCKY JOHN gets another shark! this time it was the first lemon of the season. Small one around 5 feet.

ALSO, at one of the nearshore reefs this weekend, one of the charter guides got this picture of a 10 and a half foot GW that was circling his boat!!

Thanks for reading guys, and be expecting another report within the next week or so!!
