South Georgia Sharkers Long Key Report
Ever since last spring break ive wanted to go back to the keys and fish the bridges again.. Spring break was coming around again and i started talking to some of the sgs guys, and i got the brothers andrew and bennett to head down for our spring break. We got down sunday night/monday morning at 2 am.. Instead of going to sleep we walked around to the back of the house we were renting, saw the dock, and went ahead and paddled out a bonita into the canal. we stayed up all night fishing... caught a few little snappers, and some grunts.
no shark hits that night. We got up the next morning and rolled to long key bridge. i trolled the cuda tube around and got a nice cuda around 11:30.
as i was walking down the bridge later that day i saw a hammer just cruising right on the other side of the bridge. the amount of tarpon around was crazy. As soon as the tide turned i got the cuda and rigged him up, grabbed two soda cans and floated him out..
late in the tide the rod started to tap then it slowly took short little bits of line... i had never caught a gummy before then, but as soon as i hooked it i already knew.
riding the rail
lemons used to be my least favorite shark, but i have found a new one.. These things are a pain. death rolls... haha
went back out the next day, caught a few bottom fish, including some small mangos, a parrot fish, and even a nice sheepshead.

had no luck at the marinas looking for ajs and cudas... resorted to putting out some bonitas that we brought.
no hits on the big baits...
We had out a couple other small baits on my new avet lx.
caught a 6.5 foot nurse as my first fish on the lx.. it subdued it very quickly.
went back out again on the last day cast netted a few baits on the flat and dropped them down on the lx. had no luck at the marinas again, so only the lx was out. It went off and i let andrew get it.. The nurse used the tide and shot under the bridge, but the lx did a good job of pulling it right back out.
it was a fun trip even though we had the nurse curse... with some better baits i feel like we could have caught some better sharks, but oh well. I got a name of a captain to hit up from William, so next time we will have to try it out. You live and you learn. I took abunch of other pictures that dont really have a story so i figured id post them at the end.. thanks for reading. Hope to be back down south sometime soon.
