SNAFU Report - 8 Sharks over 7 foot.

New to this forum... Just signed up today. Figured my first post should be a report from a trip about a month ago... Hope you all enjoy!

After having winter cabin fever... and not hitting the sand in about 3 1/2 months... with one trip cancelled a month ago... Me and Shane were ready to hit the sand...

We talked and planned out a trip in March, and invited our good friend Jason to come along for the ride...

We left DFW around 4pm on a thursday, and made it to our destination in about 14 hours or so... Man, that was a fun ride down, with none of us getting any sleep at all... lol

We looked for Rays everywhere, and could not find em, so with a little bit of bait Merlin hooked us up with (Thanks buddy!), we decided to just hit the sand...

We proceed to setup camp, and get to running some baits... the surf was choppy, with waves around 2-3 foot.

Get baits in the water, and first one hits after only about 20 minutes... It's Jason rod! He grabs the rod, and first shark on...
Jason gets this shark to the beach, and it is his Biggest shark ever landed, a New Species, and Person Best for him!!! Congrats buddy!
7 foot 6 in. Sandbar Shark

Shanes rod hits next after about 45 minute soak... shark on again...
Shanes brings in the shark, and it's a New Species for Shane as well... another Sandbar around a lil over 7 foot... we didn't measure it...

My rod in next up to take off... I let it run a lil bit, and hammer on the drag... Shark is hooked up again!
This is also a New Species for me.... another Sandbar Shark measuring 7 ft. 6 in. and thick!!!

Jason bait gets nailed again, and he is hooked up for the 2nd time... Another awesome Sandbar shark!

We are pretty pumped at this point, Me and Shane have been Looking to land some Sandbars for the last 2 years, but never ended up getting to the beach at the right time... and now, on the trip, we have 4 landed in a matter of hours... and all over 7 foot.
We run some more baits out, and get ready for the evening bite...

Here are some really cool sunset shots Jason took on his Nikon camera!

Jason makes us dinner for the night... some awesome ribeye steaks, beans, and potatoes!

We get a couple runs, but no hookups... until Shanes rod goes off about 10pm... and he gets a hookup.

We all drift off to sleep, until about 1:20 am when Jason wakes me up because he has another hookup...
Another Sandbar shark to add to the list...

This is it for night, so we get some sleep...

We wake up fairly early I guess, and proceed to get baits reeled in, and ran back at...

About 2 hours after sun-up... the sky begins to turn... and we get worried...

The rain ends up coming in fast, and we have a couple really hard rainfalls for about 2 hours or so... that was fun, and cold :(

The day ends up clearing up... but the waves continue to increase, and get way more choppy as the day progresses... We all 3 get a bait out, and my rod ends up getting a run, while Shane and I were at a gas station... The shark did not commit, and about 15 minutes after we return, my rod gets hit again, and this time hooks up...

I end up finally getting to see my NC Sharker's APEX shorty rod in action... That rod is fun with my 12/0 on it... I end up landing another Sandbar just over 7 foot!!

After that shark we decide to take a walk, and I look over into the woods and see a huge Bald Eagle just chillin... pretty cool to see one in nature...Only ever see one before in a zoo! Jason runs to grab the camera, and before he gets back, it decides it doesn't want it's picture taken... before it is out of view... Jason snaps a shot...

After we get back, Shanes rod hits again, and he lands... are you ready... another Sandbar Shark... lol...
This one was the biggest of the trip measuring 7 foot 8 inches!!!

Shane and Jason ended up running out one more bait each... but the current was too bad, and the weights just started pulling... We ended up calling it a trip a night early(on Sunday), and headed home...

We only got to fish for a lil over 50 hours, and we were pumped at how many sharks we landed on this trip... 8 sharks all over 7 foot!!! All swam off strong!

It was also nice to meet everyone that we did on the beach!

I hope you all enjoyed the report, and can't wait to hit the sand again with everyone!!!

Here's a couple misc. pics for the trip, that didn't really have a spot... but thought they should be included...

Until next time,
