Slowtember Report: Nice SOLO Lemon Shark
The action died down a lot after the August full moon.
9/1: Jeff gets a 42" Cuda on the spinning rod.
I lost a shark on the 14/0. It was a slow run and he didnt pull any drag. There were some head shakes and a short fight. When I got the hook back, the haywire was bent into a perfect "J." I assume the shark had the whole hook in his mouth and the Circle hook just didnt grab. Only the wire was holding him for a short time.
Took a couple weeks off.
9/14: Bryan gets a small dusky or silky on the spinning rod.
Jeff gets a 62 and 1/2" Eagle Ray on the spinning gear. This ray ripped just about 300 yards of line off the SSV 10500. We thought Jeff had a bull or 9' lemon. It looked and felt like some serious head shaking but in the end it was just the wings on the leader. IT was a cool catch but Jeff was disappointed and earned the name "Jeffray."
9/20: We hit Delray and got Skunked. Three baits through the high tide and no bites. We did find a Florida Yellow belly slider comin out of the water. We rinsed him off and took him to a local pond. JD met us out there and he probably thought we were a couple of weirdo's, takin our pet turtle to the beach LOL. It was sittin in the yak when he walked up.
9/22: We hit Pompano again but got there early. We all had baits in the water through dusk, no hits. My buddies took off and I stayed behind to fish the 11:30 pm high tide into the outgoing. It paid off. I got my biggest lemon yet, SOLO on a squall 60, loaded with 80LB PowerPro. The reel is on a 12' Peen Torque. Shark hits at 12:45AM, drops bait and comes back at 12:49am. The shark peeled 200 yards of line before I could turn her on the first run. Took me 31 minutes to get her on the sand. 10 of those minutes were while the shark was within 15 yards. Having an extra person to grab the leader would have made life 100 times easier LOL. As soon as I land the shark and get a second to catch my breath, 3 kids walk up to see what's goin on. They got a cell phone pic for me (pics or it didnt happen, right!) but DAMN I wish they walked up earlier, just to take the rod off my hand LOL. Since I was SOLO I did not get to tape or tag the shark but she was over 8' with out a doubt. Gettin lots of experience with lemon's here.
9/27: The spot seems dead and a couple of the guys take off. 30 minutes later, Bryan's 12/0 goes off and he is hooked up. Ends up being that huge eagle ray again (or his buddy of the same size)
9/28: We get rained on and skunked. When Bryan reel's in his 12/0, his bait has a couple large punctures, looks like a big cuda took a bite and dropped it.
9/30: The mullet came through but I missed them. Me and my buddy hit the sand for the 5:30 pm High tide to get some shark bait. Tommy get his first tarpon on an Xrap and 20lb tackle. Got some ladies and a couple small jacks.

Cool report for sure .Fishing might be a bit slow now but I can't tell from your pictures with a good variety of fish including,a big cuda,a big spotted eagle ray ,a big lemon and a big tarpon.Soon the mullet run will have the beaches on fire just keep watching the surf.Thanks.
