Skyway 5-30-14

Ended up heading out to the north side to break in the 14/0 on its first shark
and also hopefully my first biggin. After arriving I pulled out the lifesavers and the outgoing tide carried the balloon out about 150
yards off the pier, after about a good 5-10 minutes the lifesavers had melted
and the balloon floated away leaving my mullet to sink to the bottom. The bait
wasn't even soaking for an hour when it got hit. I let it run for a minute, flipped the free spool off and started cranking, The shark began to
jump frantically :o ! After the magnificent jumps 8-) the beast hauls a** towards the pier, cranking
hard and as fast as possible I manage to keep the line tight. Having a short
6' rod on a pier isn't any help either as I struggle to turn her head out from
under the bridge. Then the fun part begins, having to walk it down to the shore line to dehook and send her
on her way. After a grueling and tiring walk around light posts and signs we
seem to have a crowd gathering. Picking her up onto the rocks she was easily
dehooked and I even managed to remove older hook out of her from someone else.
Pretty awesome souvenir! The blacktip was safely released to fight another day!
Pics are below!
