Shark fishing Key West -White street pier 4/2007

It had been years since we fished an old concrete pier in Key West
called the White street pier so i was looking forward
to giving it a shot.We headed down to fish
Key West last Saturday after my brother up in Sebastian told me
how rough the surf was up there. We fished on White street pier
(Key West) after yaking out the baits at 3pm we got a vicious hit
on the 12/0 using a whole 8lb bonita around 4pm.The 12/0 was
going so fast that when it was put in gear the spool was turning
so rapidly that it would not catch in gear ,finally when the drag kicked
in the shark screamed off about 75 yards of line and the line was
cut off on some underwater reef, rock who knows? That was our shot
at the winning Hammer for last week.We fished till the next morning
but did not get one more hit--the whole night we talked about how big a shark it must of been to hit so hard and so fast,,,,,,,but i knew.My brother meanwhile up north got flipped 6 times in the surf trying to yak the baits out,not my idea of fun.

Anyway now when the wind slows down again i know everyone will
be back at it.Hope to see some big sharks from all the teams out
there fishing hard and staying hungry for the win.
