Well the last 2 years is gona be hard to live up to. The ILSFA mako was the brightest day of my life. This year we have made 2 more ILSFA records. My 11'9" tiger, is the current and Joeys 12'9" tiger is soon to be on top. I cant expect anything better, so I will be satisfied to live through another year as a happy landbased shark fisherman whether i catch anything or not. I may catch a few though. We now have navare pier to fish so i can fish when its rough along with fishing all of our other spots. the last 10 days we have caught 21 sharks. We have got 2 new team members that fish as hard as me and Joey. I hope our new team competes well in the BHC. Not shure what the IGFA is on spinners but we have caught 2 over 8' this week. I set my goals low so that i willnot be dissipointed, so my goal is to fish alot.

21 sharks in the last 10 days WOW!!!!Your team will be the team to beat in 2011 but don't forget there are some very powerful teams on this coast that are gaining strength and the needed momentum to challenge such as "Dirty South Shark Hunters" young guns that are hungry and just plain dangerous ,"Team Hardhookers", "Team Shark Fever","Hammer N the phenoms"and there is always the possibility we can have Team Black Bart and Team Rebel produce some of them king kong sized Hammers like they did this year. There is Team Salttrash (Pete Barrett -Port st lucie)Team Vile (Hobe Sound)"Team Rip the Lips"(Melbourne), Team Land Pirates(Ft Pierce)and Team Oldskool(Mike Palmer-Jensen beach) who definetly can dominate in any Florida based shark tournament,,,,,watch out!!!!!!Been talking to Mike Palmer and we may have him back very soon.

There are individuals like Dougr81,John239,Travis (capehazerods)that are constantly producing shark fishing results and can be a force to reckon with if they decide to put together there own Teams,,,,,, It's gonna be one heck of a year is all I can say.

Either me, kyle wagner, and chase uhl as team hammertime, or black bart will put king kong on the beach in 2011, we know the spots and hooked many hammers over 12 this year just couldn't seal the deal, something had to go wrong, I know chirs wants to beat the 13' 2" hammer from 08 shorebound and we're capable of it just gotta be at the right place at the right time we had double 11'+ hammers this year I believe the one we got on the beach was dave's and the other was the one that dumped the 12/0 or one that we pulled hook on trying to stop it. Smallest reel we'll be fishing is a 50 packed with braid so we can stop them and since we went to circles he haven't pulled hooks and bumped up the shock to 600 and 220 topshot so tail cuts are eliminated and the reef shouldn't be as much of a problem which is how we lost a huge hammer this august and had one break 130 trying to stop it last month.

In my area the surf and wind have kicked up, the bait is thinning out, and I'm on edge. Only been fishing 3 times in the past month. On the positive side of things this harsher weather keeps the crowds off the beach I love it. My goal for the remainder of this year is to at least put in several more full days of hard fishing. I will be satisfied as long as I put in some good time. Time for me to disconnect my internet, watching surf cams drives me nuts and discourages me from going when I see the big curlers crashing down. I hear cold water is good for the heart, time to go back to the ol' school method and swim that s*** out there. I wish I could legally use the piers down here that would sure help things out and enable me to fish on the rough days. The only fishermen welcome to use the piers down here in Collier and Lee are pilchard flippers.

I don't know about not being able to shark fish on them piers ,,,,"when there's a will there's a way" there are enough piers on the west coast that you can fiind one lax enough that you can sharkfish. We used to shark fish late at night on the Naples pier and no one bothered us ,,,,,specially during the winter months when no one is out there in the wee hours.
John I'd be trying to fish late on that pier and I bet no one's gonna say anything .San Carlos pass and further north Longboat key bridge are two solid alternatives and they both hold plenty of sharks in the colder months during the warming trends.Good luck.
