Sebastian and Palm beach 1st day of snook season

Loaded up the truck and picked up my cousin Benny to hit Sebastian inlet and Palm beach a double wammy we attempted going the 160 miles north to meet up with Ron Geraci and new sharker young Tyler Parker a 15 year old fishing dynamo from Virginia.We had a report the sharks were thick on the outgoing tide when the waves 4 to 6 foot the day before but the same old story prevailed "you should of been here yesterday".The local anglers were were thick on the inlet early on working there jigs w glow worms for opening day of snook season.Many were caught but most were over slot size.

There were some bluefish and some slob snook that were brought over the rails on this night but no redfish were caught while we were there.We ballooned our shark baits out but the sharks were not in the mood to take any of our baits .We packed it up and headed for Palm beach in search of some monster sharks.The drive back to Palm Beach was longer then anticipated and the hours rolled on as we got to our shark spot 1/2 hour after 1 am.A broken yak paddle did not deter young Tyler parker a DIE HARD SHARKER in the making he shows great potential with a youthful vigorous spirit that is uncommon in most of today's indoor bound computer hypnotized youth.This young man took out baits with half a paddle like he'd been doing it all his life.

Getting into the Big Sharks is sometimes a matter of luck but more important is timing-knowing when to pursue the giants .Luck can touch anyone but skill and applied knowledge follow and reward the wise (Jd Hammer).Several days ago when the two Jd's lost there monster sharks the blacktip migration had not reached Palm Beach yet and so the big sharks were more likely to take a bloody bait presented close to a beach in the absense of fresh blacktips to eat,,,,,IMO.On both the east and west coast when the tarpon start arriving the Big Sharks follow and will usually be actively feeding.Study when and where the big sharks are hooked and you will over time better understand the how and the why.
