Quick Palm Beach Trip

Made my way down to south east florida last week. The trip was really based around a tour of Florida Atlantic University, but i got to do a little fishing as well. We came down to boca raton and toured the school, that night my dad and I fished in Delray beach and didn't get touched on casted baits or some prime aj baits we had out on the bigger rods. The next day we headed up to palm for two more days to fish. I headed to the jetty and threw around a popper and cuda tube for a little while but couldn't seem to get anything. Around 6:30 we headed to the spot where we hooked the big hammer in February. The spot is honestly incredibly sketchy, there is a big reef about 250 yds out, its a miracle that the bull or hammer didn't cut me off in it, but we decided to fish it anyways. I dropped an AJ on my 12 and a HUGE blue runner on my 50w. When i got back in i took a piece of the AJ tail and threw it out on my saltist. About 20 minutes later i had a tipper on, but after it jumped the hook was spit. I baited up another chunk of AJ and threw it back out. Later that night around 9:30 the saltist doubled over and started screaming. I layed into the shark and knew immediatley it wasnt a tip. This lemon fought good, but the saltist quickly subdued it. This shark measured 7'5" a nice shark for casted baits and by far my PB for a casted bait.

No hits on the big rods that night.

The next night we were back out at the spot, during the day I caught a small tipper, but didnt get a pic of it. That night i had out a nice jack crevalle on my 12. After soaking for about 2.5 hrs the jack got slammed. Super fast pick up. I let it go for a second and hit the running man. After i hooked him i knew it wasnt a very big shark. I was thinking a blacktip or small lemon the entire time as I reeled it in. Then my dad yelled it out... the worst words a sharker can hear.. "Gummy" I couldnt beileve the gummy hit the bait going that fast, but it is what it is. He measured 7'3"
