Possible Record Hammer -Team Rebel's Tyler and Zach Miller
as far as igfa know they never switched. lol. but that was a great catch no matter what any one says.
Catch of a lifetime for sure.
When my friend Rick Casey caught the standing IGFA all tackle world record Mutton @ 30.5 lbs. they did a polygraph test and they asked him all the required questions...
3 like that in a year. Bucky dennis is proud Zack is a release fisherman. That kid from Team Old school with that 12'4" hammer ILSFA record is also proud that Zack ant got no measuring tape. The IGFA is way behinde, they need to look at the ILSFA and re do the rules to adapt to the sport. Instead Guy Harvey wants tigers and hammers off the list. They have stupid light line and fly rod records but no catch and release for the sharks. IGFA, get with the program. Personaly i come from the older style fishermen. I like to burry the ax and have a nice set of jaws. Will is right about making ya mark. Shure the fish was very old, but every dog has its day and that ole dog is gona have its day at the end of a long liners hook and its fins will be sold to make more asian's. For me tag and release fishin is an easy way out. If i were a true tag and release fisherman i would have a problem getting bait. Rays are sharks too. I like those gulp shrimp, maybe they will make a gulp jack crevell so noones heart will break while they watch there bait die. Hats off to ya unselfish ways Zack. If that fish finds ya in the kayak taking the bait out, will he let you go?

WOW!!!!!!! Amazing catch guys...u guys pay your dues...u deserve it
Sorry Doug but Im gonna have to go with Will on this one...if i was certain i had a world record from shore I think Id have to take it...but cudos to the guys for being honest about taking turns
That's an incredible hammer-hat-trick. When we take a step back and look at the small community that we all are a part of, it makes me proud to know so many talented shark fisherman who produce constantly. The fact that Zach has the knowledge to go out and challenge such a huge record is great. The same goes for those of you catching those huge tigers.
It's pretty darn cool, no matter how you look at it, that on this board among others you can chat with a state-record holder, those experienced with everything from huge tigers to makos from the beach, or someone who has multiple grander hammers under his belt and so on. I love it.
Very cool

I like where your heads at Ty
E polk is glad he wasnt in the 2010BHC. Some one was catorgrizing Zack as one of the rookies. From what i have read it seems like he has fished more baits than most seasoned fishermen has. I think that time fished takes the rookie out of the picture no mater how old he is. Its good to see someone fish so hard and finally have some real success. Congrats again Zack.

That's our goal for 2011, beat the 12ft mark, might have done it a few nights ago, they popped 130 trying to stop the fish and it was the classic big hammer hit. We had the 12/0 dumped this spring and got popped on the reef by one that was atleast 13ft in august. We're much better prepared this year, we'll have nothing smaller than a 50w packed with braid, we know the right spots, all we need are some nice fresh rays. And if we get the monster 14-15ft hammer we'll measure it and let it go, all I need to know is that I caught a record hammer I don't nee d all the recognition and shit, we're proud to say we haven't had a shark die on us yet and we'd like to keep it that way.
A few years late to this post.
Amazing catches. I'm happy to see the fish was released but I would have been equally as happy to see the record hammer caught from shore.
I was always against the idea of killing the fish to try and get a record but after reading all the replies, I am not even sure of what I would do if I was ever lucky enough to be in that situation.
Belated congrats and good job on the release!
