Pompano Beach Spinning Gear Catches
We hit Pompano Sat. and Sunday from dusk until a few hours of outgoing tide. On Saturday my buddy Jeff got a tipper, spotted eagle ray, and a small lemon. He was master angler of the night since the rest of us didn't land anything. He said the ray fought harder than the 8' lemon he got on spinning gear. All these hits were on the chunks cast out with spinning gear. We are still waiting for a big boy on the long drops
On Sunday I got a scalloped hammer on spinning gear. It was a great fight. Such a huge pleasure to get the fish after a frustrating night of many stolen baits on the spinning gear and nothin touching the long drop.
All the catches were released and swam off strong.
My primary spinning set up is the Peen SSV 10500 with 65 LB Power Pro on a 12' Penn Torque.
I assume the SSV 8500 and 9500 will easily suffice. Insane drag pressure and plenty of line capacity. We have yet to have a fish take more than 300 yards yet. Nice to have the extra power and capacity of the 10500 just in case that big shark comes in close.

Great catches on spinning tackle ,specially the hammer, thanks for sharing with us.

Went out last night again. A tipper jumped and spit out my bonito head which I had dropped out about 100 yards. Landed a big tarpon (my personal best non shark). Oh man, what a fight on that surf rod. My Buddy Jeff caught another big spotted eagle ray. He had a big fight and then was disappointed again. He didnt even want a pic LOL.
Both catches were released and swam away strong.
