Pompano Beach Catches (Aug-2013)
We have been hittin the sand regularly. We try to go when the tides are choice but it is also fun to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night when we don't have work the next morning. We got skunked a couple days in a row. Although we did not get the fish on the sand, we had some baits get picked up and you know how the sound of the drag can keep you pumped for a while longer.
About 10 days ago I got the Nurse again. I believe this is the third time I caught him. I need to get a tagging device since I have 10 tags left.
On Wed. Joey got his first shark. It was a 7'2" Female lemon on the spinning gear.
I reeled in the bait pole to avoid a tangle as the shark came closer. I left the rig next to the sand spike but I somehow got my self wrapped up and hooked in a classic Googan move when I ran to help the guys.
We were all stoked to have the shark on the sand but Joey was super stoked since this was his first and it was a decent size.
I hit the pier for bait on Thursday and then we hit the sand on Friday. I spoke to some veteran sharkers that came out to the same spot at the same time. They spoke of Will and the SFSC. They also said they were out on Thursday night and lost a shark to # 15 wire and another had #19 slip through the eye of the hook. They gave me some tips for the spot and spoke of large Bulls that roam the area. This excited me since we have had luck at the spot but it seems to be Lemon City.
No luck for us on Friday and Saturday. Ocean was flat like a lake.
I hit the Pier on Sunday afternoon and got some bait. We hit the sand Sunday night and I got a big cuda (personal best cuda) within 8 minutes of casting the shark bait. The cuda came home for shark bait, kept on ice in cooler but never frozen.
Went out last night and dropped the head have on the 14/0 and casted chunks on the spin fisher. We had a couple runs but the fish had eyes bigger than his mouth on the casted baits. We also saw a 4ft shark swim by just one foot off the shore. I could not tell the species but I would lean towards lemon.
The 14/0 went off and the brink line was busted. The bait was dropped but the current was light so I left the bait out there. It was picked up an hour later. I let the fish eat for a little while and then locked the reel down. It was a tug of war without any line getting pulled off the reel and the shark was soon on the sand. 7' fat female Bull shark. I took out
a hook with some #15 wire attached too LOL.
I was especially happy about the bull since it was not a lemon, and I caught the bait that caught the shark. I actually caught the bait, that caught the bait, that caught the bait, to catch the shark! Now I just need to go north to get some monsters.

WOW you guys are kicking butt on the sharks and cudas TOO!!!!Killer Report thanks.
