This Tiger was caught in Spratly Island in 2010, 8D7N LOB trip. There was a fair amount of hook up but mostly lost due to terminal tackle failure or hook pulled. The vessel that we are on are 80ft, maneuvering the boat is always a challenge, the vessel are always anchored and as a result we are unable to chase the fish so the fishing style are similar to land based fishing, you feel the real power of the fish head on !!
Its took a 2kg live Ruby snapper. The reel used was a Miya Epoch X15 with a calstar 755XXL, fight time was about 3 hours on stand up. Typically when we hook up we will fight the fish conventional style as these reel have a fully functional handle and harness lug.
There was another hit that took a 3kg tuna slab but the hook pulled on that one.
