OFFSHORE SHARKING "PALM BEACH STYLE"(August 20,2014)
I never pass up an invitation to go shark fishing with close friends.Josh Jorgensen and Peter Buban are two hard core shark fishing friends involved in POSITIVE WAYS in the sport of shark fishing so I was honored to spend the day with them chasing fish. Also on the boat and helping film the action was Charlie one of Peter's friends. We headed out early bait and chum and all the provisions we needed to survive the balmy heat of August in south Florida.Early on once out the inlet we trolled the color change and soon we were into plenty of fresh bonitas on the trolled artificials to lure the sharks and goliaths we would be targeting on this day.We would not be disappointed and shortly after setting up our drift in 100 plus feet of water the sharks were homing in on our baits like flies on chit.I always with an open mind to learning something new,on this day I learned that the sandbar sharks don't migrate away from south Florida in the summer.I was pleasantly surprised to see mature sandbar sharks in our chum and hitting our baits most of the day.The sandbars were abundant but we missed more then we caught (damn circle hooks).Throughout the day we caught a total of 4 sandbar sharks up to 7 1/2 feet and a 8 ft plus Dusky shark on this hot and humid but excellent day of shark fishing.

my secret lure catches most of the boni's

fattening up the bonitas with Coca Cola

chumming with fresh Bonitas puts the fish in a frenzy right behind the boat

the sharks are here, the baitfish are here and the GoPro is here to capture all the action

what was the Giant shadow in the chum??

Peter gets hooked up and catches the first and largest shark of the day the 8 foot Dusky

the shark boatside smiling for the film crew

Josh takes a quick measurement before the release

the happy angler with his first ever Dusky shark

another strike and a missed hook spit out(Damn Circles;;;LOL)

then a double hookup and a nice sandbar by Josh,,,another circle hook spit out by Peters shark(Damn circles!!)
In the afternoon we hit another spot searching for big Goliath Grouper but the current was so strong that it took alot od weight to get the baits down deep enough to where these reef marauders could attack our succulent bloody morsels. We caught one Goliath between 250 to 300 lbs and missed one or two more by the end of the day.
