Catch and release is more welcome then catch and - not release. Overall this is an extreme sport fishing, lets keep it in that sporting way.

Catch and release is the way unless you're going to harvest the shark for the table but the mishandling of protected species and pictures of such on this website are not allowed or in any way encouraged, and if we see it over and over we will address the issue with the offender or offenders. We are not saints but encourage everyone that fishes for sharks to PLEASE OBEY THE LAWS --they are there to be respected and followed.

Thank you all for understanding that we are here to Promote,Preserve and Protect our sport and so we lead by EXAMPLE and can not, and will not tolerate anything that tarnishes the sport of land-based shark fishing now or in the future.

will you know i am a catch and release guy. these sharks all swam away fine and werent even gaffed. a guy at the pier made a lasso that you can slide down the rod and line and lasso the tail and behind the jaws we had 3 lassos on each of these one in each section of the shark and they were hoisted up leaders and hooks removed and then quick pics and released. the one we walked to the beach had to be walked for like 15 mins because it was so exhausted. the other 2 took off like a bat out of hell. i would rather lift the shark out of the water and get my hook out then cut the leader off when its 30ft from the pier to the water and the crab traps out there all he has to do is be chasing another bait and get hung up and die on a crab trap.

Nobody would ever bear hug a live sandbar and let the sharks mouth hang by there stomach!!! that shark was very dead for that kid to pull that stunt!!the gills had dry blood!! look i dont care if you eat them, but to show off wrestling it, than throw it back dead, when it its endangered isnt cool

...I'm with shawn on this one. Alec has a crazy streak, sometimes being a little less careful than he really should. However, the kid's one giant muscle, he (to an extent) had the shark under control.

All three of those sharks swam away, as well as the two we caught last night. Torpedo style, straight back into the abyss.

u have to remember this is the kid that thought it was a good idea to sit on a tarpon that was flopping around with a stinger hook flying through the air and he happened to catch it with his arm. and wanted pictures of it before he took it out.

He might not have a problem bear hugging a shark, however the shark may have a problem when its internal organs get rearranged when handled that way..and other shark fishermen who handle protected fish with respect who are given a bad name when pictures like these show up on the internet may also take exception. Those sharks look pretty roughed up. Instead of trying to make excuses maybe try carrying yourselves in a more dignified manner so the rest of us aren't prejudged negatively by the law and the public.
