Got out for a while today with my wife and our friend from work. We didn't see much going on when we first got out there, until I saw birds diving in the surf down the beach a ways. We sprinted down the beach and joined the party. My wife landed a small jack and I instantly freelined it out on my 9/0. Within minutes the jack got inhaled by this big blacktip. I'm new to this sport, but this was the biggest tipper I've personally seen. It seems like the ones that are around right now are rather large, unlike the hoards of medium size ones that will be thick on the beach in about two months.
This shark was peeling line off my 9/0 on full drag. Not sure if that's impressive or just means I need new drag washers. Enjoy the pictures! -Phil
