This is where its at as far as how to act accordingly when we fish anywhere - thankyou for representing the sport well as well as the people who enjoy it. Thank you.

We fished that spot in as low key and respectful a way as was possible - we didn't upset security, we had a chat with them and they watched us bring the shark in. We picked up our trash and left the beach cleaner than we found it. In no way have we spoiled it for anyone else. Earlier in the day we fished another hotspot shoulder to shoulder with a separate party of other Miami SFSC members in a very small space and there was no jealousy or ill will about 'ownership' of the spot. Far from it. Anyway, Mark it was a pleasure and an honor to help you land that shark and we both worked our asses off to get it in and released safely. We were the only ones out fishing that spot on that day and we deserved that fish.

I done a weight for ya. I have a chart that gives a fork v/s total length. A hammers fork length is 78 percent of it's total which comes up as 132.6" for a fork length. 75" girth comes up to 932 lbs. At 70" girth it comes to 812lbs. The pumpkin will be crawling with flies this week. Makes me want to make a trip. Just kidding. Any one who is worried about there fishing hole needs to fish a pier for a while and watch how the reports affect the amount of people ya get to bump elbows with the next day. Some times ya gota treat ya holes like a slut, if some one is already there just go to another hole, and when ya go back ya won't know the difference. If ya don't want any one in ya hole ya can't show it off!
It's not the hole, it's the right fisherman, the right bait, and the right time at the right hole.
Mark, you caught the fish on super bowl Sunday, way to go bro. Super bowl Sunday and milk day is scheduled deer killin days for me. I never understood why a bunch of idiots chase a dead pig(football) around a open field and call it fun. If I chase a pig it is still gona be squeelin. I'm glad the masses love that crap cause it keeps them out of the fisherman's way.

I would like to give some advice to all the members on this forum and I am speaking to myself. Whenever someone does something or makes a comment that you don't like, sleep on it. Don't be rash with your mouth. Don't let your emotions get the best of you. Contrary to what we have been taught through the culture, emotions cause more problems than anything else. Self control is the greatest attribute anybody can learn. If we don't have self control, then we are no different than a bunch of children throwing tantrums on a playground.

Mark congrats once again on your monster hammer, that fish is truly and awesome beast, and I wish I had been there to witness a fish that big being caught in a cut that I spent many a night soaking baits. Bullbuster Monofilament has no affiliation with anything that was said in this forum. My friends and the members of my fishing team who lost there temper here will be apogizing to Mark.

As far as the spot. It is private property and some security guards are nicer then others, but I don't think it is worth taking chances, when their job includes them patrolling the dock on ever round.

Anyone caught fishing there could turn into a nasty situation or even arrest. I do not claim ownership over the spot, but do feel priveleged to be able to fish there, and do not want that privelege to be taken away. I think my team mates may have attempted to express this, but they definitely did not do so appropriatley.

Josh that's a lot harder to do than it sounds, I know a lot of people with short fuses that can't wait a night of rest to open their mouths, but I tend to be pretty mellow and don't act in bad ways, regardless people should try to follow through with your philosophy. Ernie I figured my shark to be a solid 900lbs could be more or less but that's just what I think about it. I have been told it was around 700 and over 1100 by different anglers, but I'll stick to the median. Thanks mom, but calm down, they aren't hating, they are just a little jealous that I got a nice one, they are good people too.

Just an average fisherman.

Rene was driven by a passion beyond anyone I have ever met and this shark would only make him try harder and sacrifice more then he did if that's even humanly possible because he died young because he did not allow his Diabetes to slow his shark fishing down ,,,,,he fished himself into a diabetic coma and subsequently died in a nursing home.Rene was a fierce competitor but he would be very proud of Mark and would be the first to call Mark to bring him into the circle of the Big Kahunas as he liked to say.He would be calling every few days and saying 'hey you ready i'm picking you up we're going shark fishing'he understood passion, drive and he understood talent.I was a younfg follower of Rene de Dios and when he saw my passion for the sport and saw me fishing hard he took me in as an equal and we caught many big sharks together and he understood that like him I also had 'the eye of the tiger' Mark Resto has the eye of the Tiger,Colby Uva has the eye of the Tiger,Reymundo Muniz has the eye of the tiger,Ernie Polk has the eye of the tiger,Jd Fagan has the eye of the tiger,Joe Clausel has the eye of the tiger,Jimmy Harris(jimmylevelwind ) has the eye of the tiger,Luis Cordova (picua)has the eye of the tiger and I can go on and on there are so many guys and teams out there east coast, west coast and Panhandle that work hard and in time some will equal and even surpass what Mark has done ---it will not be easy but mark these words we are getting better and better every year and 2012 has just begun.
