My biggest shark (MASSIVE bull) and more
As much as I would like to be a great writer, I'm not. I'll try to make this report as entertaining as possible!
I finally got to make my way south with some big baits and my fresh 130 loaded with brand new jb 200 and bullbuster 200# this reel has been staring at me telling to fish him for the last two months. I had no time to get bait so I have to thank the guys at Gasparilla Big Game for getting me a fresh cownose and letting me fish with them. (These are great guys). I walk up to our spot and there is already 14/0, 9/0, 4 80w's and diawa 50 in the water. I was able to squeeze in about 7 pm and dropped 20lbs of cownose about 300yds.
Sundown was coming and bait was jumping absolutely everywhere. The surf was calm and the action was even calmer. We cook up some hotdogs and admire the sunset, complaining how all of this fresh bait wasn't getting nailed!
Greg's 14/0 had 3 steady runs with 3 missed hookups. Austin's 80w goes off about 45 min later and the whole time we can't even tell if there is a fish on. 20 min later in high gear and about 500 yds of topshot reeled in, he produced a nice spinner that almost bites mako's head off!
It's now 1 a.m and my reel hasn't clicked off all night. A few of the guys start packing up and I hear the 130 singing to me. After I feel the fish was committed and ready for a lip piercing, I throw the reel into strike and started running. After my 5th step, I hit a brick wall and get pulled back towards to beach. I'm reeling in and can't gain any line (it was a mine field of crab traps where I dropped my bait) so I figured it was something small and I was dragging in both the crab trap and fish. After an eternity of fighting this fish with no harness. We see a tall fin just after the first sandbar, everyone is yelling HAMMER HAMMER HAMMER. Which turned about to be the bull turned on her side.
The fish was about 30 yds to my right as everyone went over to see. Everyone is yelling and I haven't even seen the fish yet. I throw the 130 into the rod holder and run over and cannot believe my eyes. A pregnant bull 3ft wide! She was so beautiful. My heart and mind was racing and can't really remember the whole event.
We did not get measurements but I can truly say this bull was 9ft plus and over 500lbs. She was beat up from mating. The de hook was easy heaved her back into the water and she swam away gracefully.
All of the skunked nights and a lot of money spent. It finally came into place and I was able to test my crimps, haywire twist, and my body. Thank you again Austin, Tyler, greg, and o'ryan I couldn't have caught this fish without you guys.

Congratulations on a HUGE BULL SHARK!!ALL dedication to detail, and your perserverence paid off .
