All week long, I was waiting to go to the keys, my friend Achot from school took me down. We started at long key but there were no fish. We kept going south and we hit 7-mie bridge; lost a tarpon and stingray, got one limit on snapper and got a nice grouper just under keeper, but the sharks weren't there.
Headed down to old wooden, met up with JD Fagan, drove 45 minutes both ways to pick up an 88lb amberjack and some redfish for bait. Got back to the bridge and unloaded and JD was quick to the draw; he put out a very small kingfish carcass. He called me and said: "Im on" I thought he was BSing, he put out just one minute ago, but when he wet hook, something yanked him to the rail. Got a video

Stripped out in 5 minutes on the 9/0, he got caught in the lobster trap about 300 yards out.
After an hour of tring to get him unstuck, we finally tied off JD's rod.
I threw out a redfish carcass on top and it got slammed but didnt get to it on time. Decided to put out a 20lb chunk of aj on the surface, after 20 minutes JD called me over and said there is a shark circling your bait, so i dropped it down to the bottom and within 2 miutes it was gulped. I did the running man then a couple of sets and i was nailed to the rail.
The shark stripped me out and cut left and right multiple times but after an hour and 30 minutes of hard work we beached it. BIG BULL, 300LBS ESTIMATE 8' 3"

Story isnt over yet, next morning JD went out on his kayak and with the help of two jetskiiers he clipped a snap swivel tied to my 12/0 and his 14/0 to the swivel on the leader of the shark, he estimated the bull at 8.5-9 ft, once we got up we power winched it about 20 yards and the wire kinked....
I was kind of ridiculously tired when i wrote this post, but id like to give a thanks to my friend Achot for getting his dad up at 4 in the morning to take us down to the keys, i showed him how to get sum nice snapper and a nice grouper as a bicatch, at old wooden he put out a kingfish and it got slammed, soon to be new member of the shark club. get ready for a tough new junior angler

Great catch mark big bull wish i would've went maybe next week? Me n da old boy went north instead and each landed nice sandbars last night.
great catch mark looks to me like u got 2nd place biggest bull so far... we went to hollywood and caught 6 blacktips and lost a big boi that didnt stop but the hook pulled

You guys are certainly tearing it up .Congratulations to Mark on an excellent catch -your biggest bull shark ever.
JD and Mark called me after they hooked up,were getting burned on the 9/0 and I advised them to tie the rod to the railing with a rope and a towel, leave it tied off til the morning then see if a boater will help them go out and retrieve what I thought would more then likely be a big bull.Jd had someone lend him a kayak .He kayaked out and tied the line from the 12 and the 14/0 to the leader using a big clip,they then tried winching in the lobster pot with the big bull but the #19 parted from being all twisted up all night .Jd says he saw the big bulls tail come up swish by the yak as he was trying to tie the clip.Wow!!!another great story from some young Jd hammer prodigies.

Jerry & I went to the same place on Saturday & one of the locals was telling us that there were a couple of guys with reels like ours who had caught a big shark the night before. I quickly figured out that JD Fagan was one of the fishermen. Congrats to both of you!
