I could be mistaken but the guy appears to be "several" feet back from the shark. That works pretty much the same as holding out a fish at arms length closer to the camera. Objects in the foreground appear to be much larger than they actually are. Might not be quite the monster that you think. All that aside, Nice shark!
ya, got some details. it was caught on a 9/0 using sting ray. about 2 hour fight and he said it was pretty worn out the last 20 minutes or so. they tailed it, unhooked it and took the pic then got it back in the water for a release. no measurement, he was too worried about it dieing and just wanted to get her swimming again.
also, his knee that's in the air would touch the shark if he dropped it, he's almost against it.
