Mark the Shark has broken his own record for biggest shark with this huge Tiger caught in 30 feet of water just off Key Biscayne. Here is the local channel 4 CBS story and video.

Mark gets alot of criticism but he is one of the best shark fishing captains anywhere in Florida.Capt Mark Quartiano was probably not even the angler on the fish and the weight is apparently an estimate(no certified scale big enough in any marina in Miami).Mark fishes for sharks because it is what he has always done ,(we used to fish shark tournaments against him in the early 80's)is good at ,and is known for,,,,,,he makes his living from the sharks and the fame they have afforded him .He has many repeat customers.This big Tiger could be the Florida record for biggest but I really don't think Mark is even thinking about the Florida record.In my opinion he kills too many sharks ,does'nt release enough and does'nt give a shit what anybody thinks about him ,,,,,,,,he lives more carefree that way I guess and i am no one to judge him especially since he makes his living doing it.Bottom line is that he's a man making a living doing what he loves.Not everyone can say the same thing.Love him or hate him the guy knows how catch some big ones.

Yes Mark and his brother Tommy used to fish with us on the old south beach pier in the 70s. MABY 70 OR 71 he started shark fishing. He showed me sebation inset for the frist time. Him and Rena had problems on the pier. There was only room for one #1 and Rena was it.

Mark is a misunderstood,tough as nails shark fisherman.I know first hand how Mark rubs people the wrong way ;years ago fishing against him in the marathon Jaycees shark tournaments he was always a cocky and somewhat arrogant type but the thing that stuck in my mind was that he could back his talk with results often beating the rest of the field by a wide margin.Mark has a swaggart and a air about him and is disliked by people that can't understand his personality he is a rogue American badass(ex police officer) from a family of tough scrappers,police officers,fire fighters and the like.He lives life on his terms and does'nt need anyones permission to do so.For any of you that want to badmouth him try doing it in his face (if you dare)but don't be suprised if you get knocked out because he's a tough SOB!! Markus the ex cop can use some change and a science class to understand the declining shark numbers a bit better but he aint to blame for the oberall state of affairs/diminishing stocks-blame the Asians and underfed third world natiuns that dont regulate anything as long as they git theirs.Just my 2 cents.He defitnitly is a badass though!
The tiger dosent pass 700lbs, Kevin Pagans on south beach and Rene and willie in bimini all have that tiger beat In my opinion, Oh and you are not lying about rubbing people the wrong way, id be suprised the day i here his name with out hatred following it!!!
He pulled up with a sad catch of four 5 foot or less great hammerheads, and started sliding them on to the dock at the miami beach marina,for the miami dolphins tourney weight in, My boss Robert Christoph (miami beach marina owner) sped over to him grabbed the hammers and started slamming them back in to the boat, yelling mark you piece of shi$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!! GTF outta here!!! then called me over and said dont ever let this trash even dock up here!!!!

being a regulator myself, I deal with idiots on a daily basis,this guy is more than a jerk........definitely f... up in the head
