March 2008-Tom's harbour bull shark bite
When the winds start blowing every year around Spring Break it's time to hit the bridges cause the sharks turn on.Disappointed that long key bridge is closed few options remain for the serious sharker wanting to fish the outgoing tide for big hammers or big bulls so we skipped around and hit Tom's Harbour first. The bite was on specially if you had fresh crevalle for bait. Two lemons and a bull for the guys with the fresh crevalle. We had frozen bait and it does not work well compared to the fresh local stuff. These tough guys we met from Montauk NY were on fire this night catching 3 out of 6 bites in a matter of 2 hours. That night we missed a nice shark on a big bait on the 12/0 with Suffix line that strangely enough parted right after hookup. The wind was howling the entire night and the next day was more of the same -strong winds and milky water.Next day we hit a few more bridges and caught some fresh cudas and crevalles. My friend Lui had a 11 ft hammer pick up and drop a bait 3 times was the report from the seven miler. That afternoon we picked up a tuna carcass with enough meat left on it for some dinner sushi appetizer we fixed up with some soy sauce buffalo wing sauce combo.Met some nice Canadian folks who joined us on the seven miler for some shark fishing. WE ended up with one more blacktip and my cousin missed a nice shark on the tuna head on his 16/0. Headed home at one am satisfied that finally "THERE HERE". The sharks will get bigger from now on with the tarpon moving in and the big hammers right behind them.
