livin and learnin combo report

everytime i hit a spot and fish it hard i learn something vital to success. theres no other way to learn than experience in my opinion. so i hit the beach with my buddy soflasharker (dante) and we were rushing to get to the beach and were low on bait so we made a split second decision to hit a marina and look in their trashcans  . well there were redfish and sheepshead and mackerel carcusses. so we grabbed the nasty carcusses and loaded them up in our cooler. as you all know the fresher the bait the better and here is a perfect scenario that displays the theory. we had 3-4 shark rods set up at a variety of different depths and out of 10 runs only 3 commited to the bait. the rest just picked it up and dropped it shortly after. i finally get a run that i can actually get a hookset on and its a nice looking sandy.

as the night rolls on the temperature drops so a fire was built.

my rod gets hit again and i hook up. i work it in and right in the surf the hook pulled. i bring in my rig and theres a damn snail on the tip of my hook. so the hook never anctually set. thats a first for me.

so the lesson of this is to not use bait thats been sitting in a trash can.

SCOTTS FALL TIME DOCK ADVENTURE
this is a report i forgot to put up from the end of fall a few weeks ago. scott and i hit a favorite dock of ours for snook and tarpon and snappers. we arrived right as the tide was switching and at its fastest we began catching ladyfish and snapper and putting the ladyfish out right inbetween the docks. scotts ladyfish gets nailed and he fights the nice tarpon inbetween the docks and brings her in. grab it and fling it up onto the dock pics were taken and it was shortly released.

I got my biggest bull from a world record trash can bait. Head of an 88lb amberjack caught on 12 or 15lb test. That night all of the redfish and kingfish carcasses also got hit by big bulls and JD553 got dumped on the 9/0 and wrapped on a buoy. Nice fish by the way.

Just an average fisherman.

Colby is right trash can bait is the Easiest bait to acquire ,just reach in the trash can and drop it in your cooler; no high strung boat captain to deal with,no stressed out boat mate to bargain with and no casting to catch you own either. When you're in hurry to get to the beach before sundown TRASH CAN FREE is best.

Way to make the catch with minimal bait, thanks for the report.Dylan buddy as young sharker you will learn that those trash can baits or even the oldest stinky bait in a cooler with all melted ice that's been in the sun for two days straight will sometimes get you a big shark.Sharks will eat older bait thats already started decaying.A live or fresh bait is still the best choice but

OLD STINKY ,,,,,,will save the day on many occasions

Nice job man, I'm familiar with the trash can bait as well. It's definitely convenient if you're in a jam and need quick bait.
